The seminar opens on the Schuttberg — the mountains of wartime rubble Berlin folded back into its own ground. Teufelsberg and the Volkspark Friedrichshain are the physical record of the city's destruction and reconstruction, the first layer in a longer history of how Berlin's space has been made and unmade.
